Following a recent attack on the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Canada, tensions have escalated as Hindu groups protest government inaction on Khalistani extremism. A video shared on social media shows demonstrators in Brampton vandalizing a white vehicle for allegedly honking and driving towards the protest site. The protestors, holding Indian flags and chanting slogans like “Jai Shree Ram,” expressed frustration over the government’s lack of response to the temple attack, which they attribute to pro-Khalistani supporters.
Growing Protests in Canada
The temple attack sparked rallies across Canada, with over a thousand Canadian Hindus gathering at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton to demand action against repeated incidents targeting Hindu places of worship. The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) highlighted these incidents on social media, urging Canadian authorities to address the rising “Hinduphobia” and to protect Hindu temples from such violence.
India’s Official Response
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the Brampton temple attack, calling on Canadian officials to safeguard places of worship. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal urged Canadian authorities to take decisive action to prevent further attacks on the Hindu community.
The protests underscore the growing concerns among Canadian Hindus and the Indian government, who are calling for stronger measures to address extremism and ensure the safety of religious sites in Canada.
