The UAE government has launched the Supreme Space Council, chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The Council aims to advance the nation's space sector by formulating policies for space security and managing critical infrastructure. Its focus areas include the regulation of space activities, prioritizing investments, building international collaborations, and developing capacity in the space sector. The UAE's investment in the space industry has already exceeded Dh22 billion, with 57 space-related entities contributing over 3,100 jobs.
The country is also collaborating with global partners to develop satellite technologies, such as YahSat and Thuraya, which serve key roles in the region's space communication. With this initiative, the UAE strengthens its leadership in space exploration and Earth observation technologies, aligning with its long-term vision of a sustainable and competitive space ecosystem. The Council will ensure continuous success through strategic partnerships and a robust framework for the growth of space-related ventures.
