Dubai: The United Arab Emirates has emphasized that Gaza’s reconstruction cannot proceed without a clear political framework, particularly a roadmap toward an independent Palestinian state, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Dr. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the UAE President, stated that while rebuilding the war-ravaged Strip is necessary, it must be tied to a broader peace plan that ensures lasting stability.
Rebuilding With a Political Vision
“The region has undergone a geopolitical earthquake over the past year. We must take stock of the situation and chart a path forward,” Gargash said during the Investopia 2025 panel discussion.
“You can't just go and invest billions without political clarity and then come back to see yet another conflict,” he added, stressing that a two-state solution is essential for sustainable peace.
Arab Nations Stepping Up
Gargash reiterated the UAE’s opposition to any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. “President Sheikh Mohamed’s position is very clear—there will be no forced movement of Palestinians out of Gaza. The focus must be on rebuilding while ensuring long-term security,” he said.
Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib, confirmed that the Arab League will discuss Gaza’s reconstruction plan in Cairo on March 4, aligning regional efforts toward a unified solution.
US and Regional Dynamics
Gargash also commented on US President Donald Trump, describing him as a "disrupter" in global politics, but noted that Arab states are prepared to adapt to changing dynamics.
He further highlighted the UAE’s geoeconomic approach to diplomacy, focusing on trade, investment, and technology rather than traditional geopolitics. “We must create economic opportunities and drive forward a free-market approach to regional stability,” he said.
