The UAE Lottery, operated by The Game LLC, has introduced comprehensive tools and practices to prevent problematic gaming behaviors and promote responsible gaming. These measures align with the standards set by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), ensuring player safety and well-being.

Responsible Gaming Initiatives

  1. Player Guidance:
New participants receive a detailed email emphasizing responsible gaming and providing guidance on maintaining control.

  2. Player Controls:

    • Deposit Limits: Players can set daily, weekly, or monthly spending limits, preventing additional deposits once the cap is reached.
    • Time-Outs: Players can take short breaks from gaming (72 hours to six weeks), during which accounts and marketing communications are inaccessible.
  3. Mental Health Support:
The Game LLC has partnered with Takalam, a mental health support platform, offering services to participants who feel gaming is affecting their well-being.

Preventing Problematic Gaming

The GCGRA defines problematic gaming as reckless or compulsive behavior resulting in personal, financial, or social harm. To mitigate this, operators must:

  • Integrate age verification and self-exclusion programs.
  • Provide resources and tools for informed decision-making.
  • Promote gaming as a form of leisure rather than a way to generate income.

Identifying Problematic Gaming

Signs of gaming addiction, as outlined by the GCGRA, include:

  • Difficulty stopping despite intentions to quit.
  • Betting beyond financial capabilities and chasing losses.
  • Borrowing money for gaming-related expenses.
  • Excessive time spent on gaming activities, leading to neglect of hobbies, responsibilities, or social life.
  • Emotional instability or mood swings linked to gaming outcomes.

First UAE Lottery Highlights

The UAE Lottery, launched with a Dh100 million jackpot, underwent rigorous evaluation to meet regulatory standards. The GCGRA stressed the importance of ensuring gaming remains a fun and responsible form of entertainment.

By combining strict controls with mental health support, the UAE Lottery aims to create a safe and sustainable gaming environment for all participants.
