Abu Dhabi, UAE: In a significant move to enhance travel flexibility and bilateral ties, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded its visa waiver programme for Indian passport holders and their families. Effective February 13, 2025, the revised regulations now allow Indian nationals to enter the UAE without obtaining a prior visa, provided they hold valid residency permits or visas from a newly expanded list of eligible countries.
Expanded Access to More Countries
Previously, the UAE’s visa waiver policy applied to Indian passport holders with valid visas, residency permits, or green cards from the United States, the United Kingdom, and European Union nations. However, under the latest update announced by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), this list now includes six additional countries:
- Singapore
- Japan
- South Korea
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Canada
Indian travelers with valid documents from any of these countries can now receive an entry visa on arrival at all approved entry points in the UAE, eliminating the need for prior visa applications.
Visa Costs and Duration
The visa-on-arrival comes with specific conditions regarding fees and validity:
- A 14-day entry visa costs Dh100.
- An extension for an additional 14 days requires Dh250.
- A 60-day visa is available for Dh250.
To qualify, passports must have at least six months of validity, and travelers must pay the required fees as per UAE regulations.
Strengthening India-UAE Relations
The decision to extend the visa waiver reflects the strong historical, cultural, and economic ties between India and the UAE. The initiative is expected to ease travel for Indian professionals, entrepreneurs, and families, boosting tourism and investment.
With the UAE already home to one of the largest Indian expatriate communities, the relaxed visa rules are set to further enhance opportunities for Indian nationals looking to visit, work, or explore residency options in the country.
Industry experts believe the move will strengthen bilateral cooperation, attract skilled professionals, and position the UAE as a preferred hub for global talent and economic activity.
