Abu Dhabi: The UAE’s Ministry of Education has designated Fridays during Ramadan as distance learning days for students in public schools, except for those with pre-scheduled exams on Fridays.
However, parents who prefer their children to attend school in person will have the option to send them, provided they arrange their own transportation. Teaching staff will remain on campus to supervise students and ensure continuity in the academic schedule.
"Ramadan with the Family" Initiative
The announcement comes as part of the “Ramadan with the Family” initiative, launched by the Ministry of Education to foster a supportive home learning environment. A guide has been circulated detailing student activities in collaboration with parents, encouraging children to engage in educational and cultural activities at home in alignment with Ramadan traditions.
The initiative reflects the UAE leadership’s vision of strengthening family and community bonds during the holy month while reinforcing Islamic values in young minds.
Ramadan Working Hours for Public Sector Employees
In addition to adjustments in the education sector, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced revised working hours for government employees during Ramadan:
- Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- Fridays: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Exceptions will be made for employees whose job requirements necessitate different working hours.
