Dubai, UAE – A senior UAE diplomat has publicly backed the Arab League’s call for Hamas to relinquish control over Gaza, emphasizing the need to prioritize the welfare of Palestinians over political interests.
Dr. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, expressed support for Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, who recently urged Hamas to step aside in Gaza’s administration.
"The rational call of Ahmed Aboul Gheit for Hamas to withdraw from Gaza’s governance is appropriate," Dr. Gargash stated.
He highlighted that Hamas’ actions have led to severe destruction, both in terms of infrastructure and the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.
Arab Leaders Reject Displacement of Palestinians
The World Government Summit in Dubai became a key platform for regional leaders to express strong opposition to any plan involving the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
Jasem Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), firmly rejected the idea, stating:
“There is no leader in the Arab world who accepts the forced displacement of Palestinians.”
At the same time, Ahmed Aboul Gheit criticized the U.S. administration’s stance, describing it as unclear and warning that erasing Palestinian identity in Gaza is not a viable solution.
“This is not mediation—it is an injustice,” he asserted.
The Road Ahead for Gaza
As discussions continue among regional and global leaders, the future of Gaza remains uncertain. With mounting pressure for Hamas to cede control, the possibility of a new governance structure for the region is gaining momentum.
