The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed deep condolences to the United States following the tragic loss of life in the wildfires that ravaged California, particularly affecting Los Angeles. The wildfires, which have claimed at least 10 lives and forced tens of thousands to evacuate, have been among the most destructive in the city's history.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on January 10, offering its sincere sympathy to the US government and the families of the victims. The statement also conveyed wishes for a swift recovery for those who were injured in the fires.
The wildfires, including the Palisades Fire between Santa Monica and Malibu, and the Eaton Fire near Pasadena, have destroyed nearly 10,000 homes and other structures, while burning through 34,000 acres (13,750 hectares) of land. The fires are a result of fierce winds that have ravaged the area, although some respite came with easing winds on Thursday, allowing firefighters a temporary break.
The fires have caused widespread devastation, reducing entire neighborhoods to ashes and ranking as some of the most catastrophic fires in the region's history. As the death toll rises, the international community, including the UAE, continues to offer support and solidarity in the wake of the disaster.
