The UAE has introduced an 18-month Professional Diploma in Childhood Development to address the growing need for skilled caregivers. The program, offered by the National Academy for Childhood Development (NACD), aims to equip caregivers with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. With an acceptance rate of just 1.73%, the course attracted 7,800 applicants for 120 spots, indicating a high demand for this valuable training.
Participants will engage in 12 months of classroom learning, followed by six months of practical training in diverse settings like nursing homes and educational institutions. The curriculum covers a wide range of caregiving aspects, including understanding child behavior, life skills development, and academic support strategies. Additionally, the program is open to high school graduates, broadening opportunities for those passionate about caregiving.
The initiative aligns with the UAE’s vision for social welfare enhancement, and successful graduates will have the chance to work with the Family Care Authority (FCA). As the population ages, the demand for caregivers will continue to rise, and this diploma is an essential step toward ensuring high-quality care for children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic conditions or disabilities.
