Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation tour from November 16, visiting Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana to strengthen diplomatic ties and attend the G20 Summit. This visit marks India's continued emphasis on global collaboration, particularly with developing nations.
PM Modi’s first stop will be Nigeria, where he will engage in discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review and expand the India-Nigeria strategic partnership, which has seen significant collaboration in economic, energy, and defense sectors. With over 200 Indian companies investing over $27 billion in Nigeria, the visit aims to deepen this economic relationship further. PM Modi will also address the Indian diaspora in Nigeria.
From Nigeria, PM Modi will travel to Rio De Janeiro on November 18 for the G20 Summit. This summit will build on India's G20 presidency themes, including inclusive growth, digital innovation, climate financing, and global health access, with a focus on the Global South. India, Brazil, and South Africa are part of the G20 troika, representing developing nations' voices on critical global issues. PM Modi is expected to meet with multiple world leaders during the summit.
The final stop on PM Modi’s tour will be Guyana, from November 19 to 21, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country since 1968. Invited by President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, PM Modi will address the Guyanese Parliament and the Indian community and participate in the second CARICOM-India Summit to enhance India’s engagement with the Caribbean nations. This summit will foster stronger ties with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), an organization promoting economic cooperation across 15 Caribbean countries.
