Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Saturday that Israel would not proceed with the Gaza ceasefire agreement until Hamas provides a detailed list of the 33 hostages to be released in the initial phase of the deal.
“We will not move forward with the agreement until we receive the list of hostages who will be released, as agreed. Israel will not tolerate violations of the agreement. The sole responsibility lies with Hamas,” Netanyahu stated in an official announcement.
The ceasefire, aimed at halting the ongoing conflict, hinges on the release of the hostages held by Hamas. Israel has insisted that no further action will be taken until the agreed terms are fulfilled, emphasizing the importance of transparency and adherence to the deal.
The situation remains fragile, with both sides under international pressure to implement the agreement. Netanyahu’s statement reinforces Israel's demand for accountability from Hamas, which has not yet responded publicly to the call for the hostage list.
As the ceasefire negotiations face this new hurdle, the international community continues to closely monitor developments in the region, urging both parties to honor their commitments and prioritize efforts to de-escalate tensions.
