In a groundbreaking announcement, Kanika Tekriwal, founder of JetSetGo, revealed plans to launch flying taxis in India, with fares expected to be on par with current Uber rates. Speaking at the 42nd annual international conference organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) in Dubai, Tekriwal highlighted the initiative's focus on making personal air mobility accessible to the broader public.
Tekriwal emphasized the shift from luxury to affordability in personal transportation. "Decades ago, owning a car was a privilege for the few. Today, it's a common asset. Similarly, the future of personal air mobility, including flying cars and taxis, is poised to become a mainstream mode of transportation," she explained. The estimated cost of owning a flying car could range between $200,000 and $300,000, aiming to make this futuristic technology a feasible option for many.
The aviation industry is on the brink of a revolution, according to Tekriwal, with the potential to dramatically reduce travel times and transform urban commuting. "Imagine traveling from Sheikh Zayed Road to the Palm in Dubai in just five minutes," she said, highlighting the efficiency of flying taxis over traditional road travel.
This initiative is not just about enhancing convenience but also about addressing infrastructural limitations. Tekriwal pointed out that in India, where connectivity is a challenge with only 160 out of over 1,000 cities linked by airlines, flying taxis could leverage smaller runways and even big parking lots, bypassing the need for extensive airport infrastructure.
The panel discussion also included insights from other industry leaders who spoke about various disruptions and innovations shaping the future of business and technology.
With this ambitious plan, JetSetGo is setting the stage for a transformative shift in how people move across cities and regions, promising a future where flying taxis are as common and affordable as car rides.
