Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has officially announced the commencement of the fifth edition of the 'Hope Maker's' award. This initiative is part of a broader effort to recognize and honor individuals making significant humanitarian contributions within their communities.
Taking to social media to kickstart the campaign, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of spreading optimism and hope in the region, which he noted has faced numerous challenges. "In every village and city, there are individuals dedicated to creating hope and spreading goodness. We aim to find these people, celebrate them, and set them as role models," Sheikh Mohammed stated.
The 'Hope Maker's' award is open to anyone with a history of humanitarian or community service work. Applicants or nominees should embody a positive outlook on life and possess the ability to communicate effectively in the language of giving, both in speech and writing.
Participants are encouraged to nominate themselves or others who they believe represent the essence of a 'Hope Maker' through the dedicated website arabhopemakers.com.
Past winners of the award include notable figures such as Nawal Al Soufi from Morocco, Mahmoud Wahid from Egypt, Emirati Ahmed Al Falasi, and Tala Al Khalil from Iraq, each celebrated for their extraordinary efforts in areas ranging from refugee aid to healthcare development.
With a prize of Dh1 million, the 'Hope Maker's' award aims not only to acknowledge these exceptional individuals but also to inspire a movement of positivity and service across the globe.
