UAE: Flydubai Suspends Flights to Two Southern Russian Airports
According to Flydubai, flights to Sochi are suspended until January 2, while flights to Mineralnie Vody are on hold until January 3.
Incident Linked to Flight Suspensions
The decision follows a recent incident involving an Azerbaijan Airlines plane traveling from Baku to Grozny, which crashed in the Kazakh city of Aktau. Preliminary findings suggest the plane was mistakenly shot down by Russian air defenses, according to four sources involved in Azerbaijan's investigation.
The crash has led to heightened concerns about aviation safety in the region. As a result, other airlines, including Kazakhstan’s Qazaq Air, Israel’s El Al, and Azerbaijan Airlines, have also suspended flights to certain parts of Russia.
Safety First
Flydubai’s decision aligns with its commitment to passenger and crew safety. The airline has not commented further on the specifics of the technical reasons but assured passengers that updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
This temporary suspension highlights ongoing challenges for international carriers operating in volatile regions.
Passengers affected by the suspension are advised to check with Flydubai for alternative travel arrangements or updates on the status of flights to these destinations.
