Dubai International Airport (DXB) saw a brief disruption on Friday morning when a flydubai flight bound for Hargeisa International Airport (HGA) was forced to abort its takeoff. This resulted in the diversion of 14 inbound flights to other airports in the UAE.
While the reason for the aborted takeoff has not been officially disclosed, flydubai confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft. A spokesperson for the airline stated, "Our cabin crew followed established procedures to ensure the safety of everyone onboard. All passengers were transferred to the terminal and accommodated onto another aircraft to continue their journey."
The airline also extended its apologies to passengers for any inconvenience caused by the delay in their travel plans.
Following the disruption, 14 flights were redirected to nearby airports, including Al Maktoum International Airport. According to a statement from DXB, normal operations resumed soon after the incident. "The airport has returned to regular operations after the temporary suspension caused by the aborted takeoff of flydubai's flight FZ661," the statement explained.
Dubai Airports also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused, reassuring travelers that efforts were underway to ensure their comfort. "Our priority remains safety and delivering excellent service to all our guests," the spokesperson added.
