In a recent update, Emirates airline announced that passengers are prohibited from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights to, from, or via Dubai. This ban applies to both check-in and cabin baggage, with the airline emphasizing that any such devices found will be confiscated by Dubai Police.
The move is in line with safety measures following recent security concerns in the region. Earlier in September, Lebanon imposed similar restrictions after an attack on Hezbollah's communication systems. Although Emirates currently does not operate flights between Dubai and Beirut due to regional unrest, the ban underscores heightened vigilance across all Emirates routes.
The airline also temporarily suspended flights to Iraq, Iran, and Jordan, resuming services to some destinations on October 5. For passengers transiting through Dubai with destinations in these countries, Emirates has advised that they will not be accepted for travel until further notice. Additionally, while other regional carriers like Flydubai have resumed operations to specific cities, the broader safety landscape remains dynamic.
This prohibition highlights the importance of adhering to travel regulations, especially amid evolving global security threats. Passengers are encouraged to double-check their baggage to avoid issues during their journey.
