Dubai: Dubai is set to welcome the world's tallest wellbeing resort, Therme Dubai, as part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, announced on Tuesday. The 100-metre-tall resort will be located at Zabeel Park and is expected to open by 2028.
A Landmark for Sustainability and Wellness
The UAE government is investing Dh2 billion in the project, which will feature:
- The world's largest indoor botanical garden, designed to attract 1.7 million visitors annually.
- A multi-purpose interactive park, promoting relaxation and urban biodiversity.
- Three wellness zones dedicated to restoring, relaxing, and playing.
"This innovative project reflects our commitment to enhancing urban biodiversity and environmental sustainability, creating enriching experiences for Dubai’s residents and visitors," said the Crown Prince of Dubai.
Green Initiatives and Environmental Commitment
Dubai has been actively working towards sustainability goals, with the Dubai Municipality revealing that 216,500 trees were planted across the city in 2024—a 17% increase from 2023.
The announcement was made on National Environment Day, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to global climate action and sustainability.
Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033
Launched in May 2024, the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 aims to make Dubai the best city to live in by enhancing:
- Pedestrian-friendly infrastructure
- Public parks and beaches
- Cycling and outdoor fitness spaces
Under this initiative, Dubai plans to develop 200 new parks, extend cycling tracks on beaches by 300%, and increase night swimming beach areas by 60%. Additionally, a women-only beach will be introduced.
With Therme Dubai set to become a global wellness destination, the emirate continues to position itself as a leader in sustainability, urban development, and luxury living.
