Dubai schools are experiencing an unprecedented surge in student admissions, with some reporting a 40% increase for Term 2 compared to last year. This record demand has led to longer waiting lists as more families relocate to the region, attracted by the UAE’s reputation as a global hub for quality education.
The demand is particularly high for British and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula, considered the gold standard for fostering critical thinking and holistic development. Schools such as Greenfield International School and Dubai British School Emirates Hills are expanding capacity to accommodate the growing interest. New campuses, including Dubai British School Mira (opening in 2025) and Harrow International Schools (set to launch in 2026), will add space for thousands of students.
Dr. Neil Hopkin, Director of Education at Fortes Education, noted a significant rise in enrolments at Sunmarke School and Regent International School. High rankings and excellent exam results have fueled this interest, with Sunmarke now ranked 69th globally for IB results and Regent students achieving the “Highest Grade in the World” from their examination board.
School leaders emphasize maintaining optimal class sizes to support academic excellence, reassuring parents that increased demand will not compromise individual attention for students. Parents are advised to start the admissions process early, research schools thoroughly, and attend open houses or school tours to better understand curriculum offerings, facilities, and values.
As Dubai’s population continues to grow and its reputation as an education hub strengthens, the demand for high-quality schooling shows no signs of slowing. Families are urged to plan strategically to secure a place at their preferred institutions.
