After nearly two decades in the UAE, Peer Muhammad Azam, a 41-year-old Indian expat, took a chance on the UAE Lottery, like many residents before him. In an unexpected twist of fate, Azam became the first millionaire of the UAE Lottery on January 11, 2025, walking away with Dh1 million on his very first attempt.
Azam, who works as a senior electrician at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, recalled the moment he discovered his win. "I watched the live draw and then double-checked the numbers online. I couldn’t believe it — I had actually won!" he shared, still in disbelief at his fortune.
Having purchased 20 tickets with a group of friends, Azam called them the following day to share the incredible news. "My phone was ringing nonstop, and we celebrated the victory over the weekend," he said, grateful for the luck that had come their way. The group had agreed to pool their resources and split the prize if they won, making the victory even sweeter.
While Azam hasn’t finalized his plans for the prize money, he has made it clear that he intends to share some of it with those in need. "I’ll donate a portion to charity," he said, adding that his win would help him do more for his family and friends.
But Azam is not stopping there. He is already looking forward to his next shot at winning — and this time, his sights are set on the Dh100 million jackpot. "If I win the Dh100 million, I won’t stay grounded — I’ll just soar into the sky from sheer joy!" Azam exclaimed, eager to try his luck again.
