Dubai – A man who assaulted a Dubai Police officer, causing multiple injuries, has been sentenced to two months in prison and will be deported after serving his sentence.
Incident at Police Station
The incident occurred on March 29, 2024, at around 9:40 pm at Naif Police Station. The defendant had accompanied another individual who accused him of threatening and harassing his family. Both parties visited the station to resolve the dispute.
When the defendant was asked to move to the investigation room for questioning, he refused to comply. He loudly proclaimed his innocence and declined to provide personal identification.
Escalation and Assault
Despite efforts by the officer to calm him and obtain his information, the defendant grew increasingly agitated. He lay on the ground, screaming, and continued to resist.
As the officer attempted to escort him back to the investigation room, the defendant violently resisted, kicking the officer and struggling forcefully.
The officer sustained injuries, including a damaged little finger on his right hand and a wound to his right ear. Additional officers intervened to bring the situation under control.
Court Verdict
During the trial at the Dubai Criminal Court, the defendant admitted to the charges of resisting a public official and causing injuries during the execution of official duties.
The court sentenced him to two months in jail, after which he will be deported from the UAE.
This case highlights the importance of cooperating with authorities and maintaining decorum during official proceedings.
