Three Pakistani men, accused of committing a murder in Dubai’s Umm Al Ramool area, will stand trial after being arrested following an illegal escape from the UAE. The first court hearing for the murder charges is scheduled for January 8, 2025.

Timeline of Events

  • March 26, 2024: The alleged murder took place under the jurisdiction of Al Rashidiya Police Station.
  • March 27, 2024: The suspects fled the UAE illegally, bypassing checkpoints and hiding in a truck driven by a fellow national to cross into Oman.
  • April 8, 2024: Omani authorities identified the men’s illegal entry and linked them to the Dubai murder. They were subsequently handed over to Dubai Police.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

The defendants, aged between 25 and 35, face charges under Federal Decree-Law No. 29 of 2021, related to illegal entry and exit of foreigners, in addition to murder charges.

During court proceedings conducted via video link, the suspects admitted to illegally leaving the UAE. They were sentenced to one month in prison, followed by deportation for the immigration violation.

Murder Case Continues

The murder trial is ongoing, with investigators alleging the defendants' involvement in the crime. The next court session will focus on the evidence and their role in the murder.

This case underscores the collaboration between the UAE and Omani authorities in ensuring justice for cross-border crimes.
