A Dubai court has mandated the auction of medical equipment from a healthcare facility to address outstanding debts and unpaid salaries for its employees, including doctors and nurses. The auction is set to take place on Tuesday, January 7, at Emirates Auction's Ras Al Khor location at 5 PM, with online participation also available through the company’s website.
Details of Seized Assets
The confiscated assets, valued at over Dh22 million, include critical medical equipment and furniture:
- X-ray machines
- Automated analyzers
- Bronchoscopy equipment
- Catheterisation cardiac systems (valued at Dh1.7 million)
- Patient beds
- Infusion pumps
- Blood pressure monitors
The decision follows a court-appointed executor’s inspection in March 2024, which cataloged the facility's assets after it failed to pay debts owed to creditors and staff.
Impact on Employees
For months, staff members, including physicians and nurses, went unpaid, prompting the court to approve asset confiscation in November 2024.
- A former physician expressed relief: “This decision provides some closure, even if it comes at the cost of a workplace we once believed in.”
- A nurse described the situation as bittersweet: “It’s hard to see the place we worked in being dismantled, but at least we may finally receive the compensation we’ve been waiting for.”
Objection Process
Those wishing to contest the auction must submit their objections along with supporting documents to Dubai Courts at least three days before the auction date.
Looking Ahead
The auction marks a decisive step toward resolving financial disputes for the affected creditors and employees, offering hope for compensation while signaling a closure to a challenging chapter for the facility and its workforce.
