Health insurance premiums in Dubai have increased by up to 20% starting January 2025. The rise comes as new benefits, such as dental care, mental health support, and coverage for critical treatments, have been added to policies.

New Benefits Included:

  • Dental care: Up to Dh500.
  • Mental health counselling: Up to Dh800.
  • Dialysis treatment: Up to Dh60,000.
  • Organ transplants: Up to Dh100,000 for recipients.
  • Annual medicine costs: Up to Dh2,500 for specific drugs.
  • Repatriation costs: Up to Dh5,000 for transporting mortal remains.

These benefits also include co-insurance requirements, such as 20% for dialysis and organ transplants and 30% for outpatient counselling and medicines.

Why the Increase?

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) updated regulations to improve healthcare access and quality. Insurers have adjusted premiums to reflect these changes.

  • Some insurers raised rates by 10-20%, while others kept prices stable.
  • The adjustments depend on the insurer’s claims experience and strategy.

Who Is Affected?

Both individuals and companies will experience higher premiums. Despite the cost increase, the added benefits make policies more comprehensive, covering areas previously excluded.

Industry Insights:

Experts agree that the changes improve health insurance by including more services like dental care and mental health support. These updates ensure better protection for policyholders and reflect Dubai’s commitment to enhancing healthcare quality.
