Dubai’s new Golden Visa initiative for educators is set to transform the profession by offering long-term residency for teachers who have made exceptional contributions to the education sector. Announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, this initiative, which begins accepting applications from October 15, 2024, aims to recognize the efforts of educators working in private schools, nurseries, and universities.
Veteran teacher Louis La Grange, who has been in the profession for over two decades, expressed excitement, stating that the Golden Visa provides teachers with recognition and stability, bringing them on par with other prestigious professions in Dubai. He emphasized that this initiative not only boosts morale but also encourages educators to remain in the region, allowing them to contribute more effectively to their students' success.
The Golden Visa will also benefit school owners by addressing staff retention issues. According to educator Sajida Al Bashir, many teachers leave due to a lack of long-term stability, which has become a major concern for schools. This new visa program will help retain talented teachers, improving the overall quality of education in Dubai. The initiative is seen as a crucial step toward enhancing the profession's status and ensuring a secure future for both educators and students.
