Dubai – One of Dubai’s most iconic attractions, the Dubai Fountain, will temporarily close next month for an extensive renovation. Developer Emaar has officially announced that the fountain’s final performance before restoration will take place on April 19, 2025.
Located at the base of Burj Khalifa and nestled within the 30-acre Burj Lake, the Dubai Fountain has become a global symbol of the city’s innovation and creative spirit. Known for its breathtaking choreography of water, light, and music, the attraction draws millions of visitors annually.
“Dubai Fountain stands as a reflection of Dubai’s bold vision and its ability to captivate and inspire on a global scale,” said Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar. “This restoration underscores our commitment to maintaining its legacy as a beacon of creativity and excellence.”
Preserving an Icon
Emaar emphasized that the upcoming refurbishment aims to preserve the fountain’s grandeur while enhancing the experience for future generations. The work will include upgrades to the synchronized water jets, lighting systems, and musical programming, ensuring the attraction continues to represent Dubai’s cutting-edge urban landscape.
The fountain is capable of projecting 22,000 gallons of water at once to a height of 140 meters—equivalent to a 45-story building—and spans an area equivalent to two football fields. Its daily shows have become a must-see spectacle, particularly for tourists visiting Downtown Dubai and the Dubai Mall.
Downtown Dubai Remains a Hub of Activity
While the fountain undergoes maintenance, Downtown Dubai will continue to buzz with activity. The Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping and leisure destinations, remains open with an expanding selection of retail and dining experiences. Visitors can also enjoy uninterrupted access to Burj Khalifa’s observation decks, scenic strolls along the promenade, and special Ramadan events in the area.
The announcement follows the reveal of a new Dubai Mall extension, adding further attractions during the holy month and beyond.
What’s Next
Although Emaar has not disclosed a specific reopening date for the renovated fountain, anticipation is already building for its grand return. The upgrade aligns with Dubai’s broader urban development strategy, which prioritizes sustainable innovation, cultural experiences, and world-class entertainment.
Tourists planning to witness the final performances are encouraged to visit before April 19, as the current iteration of the fountain prepares to make way for its next spectacular chapter.
