DUBAI – Cricket fans in the UAE and around the world rushed to secure seats for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, leading to a complete sellout within 40 minutes of ticket sales opening on Tuesday night.
The tickets, which ranged from Dh250 for General Admission to Dh12,000 for premium Sky Box seats, were released at 10 PM UAE time and were fully sold out by 10:40 PM, underscoring the immense fan frenzy surrounding the final.
India's Semifinal Triumph Fuels Ticket Rush
India’s four-wicket victory over Australia in the semi-final on Tuesday, powered by Virat Kohli’s match-winning 84-run innings, has set the stage for an electrifying final in Dubai on March 9. The Men in Blue will take on the winner of the second semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa, which will be played in Lahore on Wednesday, March 6.
Fans Face Disappointment as Demand Soars
With over 100,000 people attempting to purchase tickets online at the moment of release, many fans were left empty-handed despite their best efforts.
Dubai-based Aman Kumar, 25, was among those who waited in queue only to find out that all tickets had already been sold. "I waited for over an hour, but I was just trying my luck. I knew they would be gone fast," he said.
Similarly, Pooja R., another Indian expat, likened the experience to the India-Pakistan match ticket rush earlier in the tournament. “It felt like déjà vu. I stood in the queue for nearly an hour, but no luck,” she shared. Despite her disappointment, she remained optimistic. “I’ll still be cheering for India from behind the screen,” she added.
Dubai Becomes the Cricketing Hub for the Final
The ICC had confirmed Dubai as a neutral venue for all India matches in the tournament due to the hybrid hosting model. This has attracted cricket fans from around the world, with Indian celebrities and cricketing legends frequently spotted in the stands at Dubai International Stadium.
Who Will India Face in the Final?
The second semi-final on March 6 will determine India’s opponent for the final. South Africa will look to end their ICC trophy drought since 1998, while New Zealand will aim to secure another shot at ICC silverware.
With both teams boasting strong line-ups, fans are anticipating an intense battle in Lahore. South Africa’s pace attack, led by Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen, alongside spin maestro Keshav Maharaj, will be key against New Zealand’s balanced squad.
Final Countdown Begins
As March 9 approaches, the anticipation for the Champions Trophy final in Dubai is reaching fever pitch. With tickets completely sold out, fans who missed out will be tuning in from across the globe, eager to see whether India can secure yet another ICC title or if a new champion will emerge.
