Etihad Rail has revealed details of its upcoming high-speed passenger train service, which will connect Abu Dhabi to Dubai in just 57 minutes, cutting travel time by more than half. This major development in the UAE’s transportation sector was announced alongside plans to link 11 cities and regions across the country, including Sharjah, Fujairah, and Al Ruwais.
The trains, capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h, will transform inter-city travel, offering a fast, efficient, and eco-friendly alternative to road transport. The journey from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah will take 105 minutes, while the trip to Al Ruwais will be completed in 70 minutes.
Etihad Rail’s passenger trains will feature modern interiors with comfortable seating and high-tech amenities, including TV screens displaying real-time information. With a capacity to transport 36.5 million passengers annually, the service is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and provide a reliable, sustainable transport option for residents and tourists alike.
Although the exact launch date has yet to be announced, the railway network is part of the Dh50 billion UAE Railways Programme, which aims to revolutionize transport infrastructure across the Emirates.
