The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has once again set records with its 116th auction of distinguished license plates. A staggering Dh69.137 million was raised through the sale of 90 premium plates, including two-to-five-digit combinations marked by codes such as AA, L, N, P, and others. Among the top sellers was the coveted AA17 plate, which fetched an astounding Dh8.02 million. Other notable sales included plate Y1000 for Dh4.55 million and V96 for Dh4.1 million.
These high-end plates often hold significant personal value, representing milestones or important occasions in the buyers' lives. Owning such a plate is seen as a status symbol in Dubai, where exclusive auctions like these are highly anticipated.
The auction not only allows individuals to display their unique plates but also contributes significantly to RTA's revenue. While AA17 topped the auction, plates such as AA333 and other combinations still fetched millions, proving that the allure of owning a premium plate remains strong.
The event highlights Dubai's love for prestigious custom plates, blending luxury with personal identity. With such high demand and substantial earnings, the RTA continues to push the boundaries of the license plate market.
